The G-Sensor measures forces of acceleration, or G-forces, across multiple axes (up/down, left/right, front/back). This is how it functions within the CP PLUS CarKam:
* Detection of Impact/Sudden Movement: The sensor continuously monitors the forces acting on the camera/vehicle. When it detects a force that exceeds a pre-set sensitivity threshold—caused by a sudden impact, harsh braking, sharp swerve, or collision—it is triggered.
* Event File Locking: Once triggered, the dash cam instantly recognizes this as an "event." It automatically locks and saves the current video file (typically the footage immediately before, during, and after the incident).
* Protection from Overwriting: This locked footage is moved to a separate protected folder or marked so that the dash cam's loop recording feature cannot overwrite it. This ensures the crucial evidence of the incident is preserved.
* Parking Mode (Model Dependent): In models that support Parking Mode, the G-Sensor remains active even when the vehicle's engine is off. If the parked car is bumped or sustains an impact (like a hit-and-run), the G-Sensor will trigger the dash cam to wake up and record the incident.
* Driving Quality Analysis (Advanced MDVRs): In more advanced CP PLUS Mobile Digital Video Recorders (MDVRs) used in fleet management, the G-sensor data can also be used to analyze driving quality, detecting and recording instances of sudden acceleration or sharp turns for fleet monitoring.
