Setting up your HP Smart Tank 580 printer is a straightforward process, primarily guided by the HP Smart app.
📦 Unbox and Power On
* Unbox: Remove the printer and all packing materials, tapes, and protective films.
* Power: Plug the power cord into the printer and a wall outlet. Turn the printer on.
📲 Download the HP Smart App
The HP Smart app is required to complete the setup, including connecting the printer to your Wi-Fi and installing the printheads.
* Go to 123.hp.com from your computer or mobile device.
* Follow the prompts to download and install the HP Smart app for your operating system (Windows, macOS, Android, or iOS).
⚙️ Install the Printer and Connect
* Open the HP Smart app.
* If prompted, create or sign in to your HP account.
* Tap Add Printer (or the plus sign +).
* The app should detect your printer. Follow the on-screen prompts to connect the printer to your Wi-Fi network (it supports 2.4 GHz Wi-Fi).
* The app will guide you through the next physical steps using animations.
💧 Fill the Ink Tanks
* Open the front door of the printer.
* Open the caps for each corresponding ink tank (Black, Cyan, Magenta, Yellow).
* Take the ink bottles. Make sure the color of the bottle matches the tank color.
* Open the ink bottle and invert it over the tank's inlet. The ink will drain automatically without squeezing.
* Close the ink tank caps and the front door when finished.

* Open the printhead cover. The carriage will move to the center.
* Remove and discard the orange guard or shipping materials from the printhead area.
* Unpack the new printheads (Black and Tri-color).
* Remove the protective caps/plugs from the top of the printheads.
* Insert each printhead into its corresponding slot until it clicks into place.
* Close the blue latch and the printhead cover.

* Load plain paper into the input tray.
* The printer will typically print an alignment page. Follow the instructions on the printer display or in the HP Smart app to complete the printhead alignment by scanning the page.
