Connecting your LG washer dryer to Wi-Fi is primarily done
through the LG ThinQ app (formerly called SmartThinQ). Android or iOS device.
General Steps to Connect
1. Prepare Your Appliance and Phone
Download the LG ThinQ App: Get the app from the Google Play Store (Android) or the Apple App Store (iOS).
Sign Up/Log In: Create an account or log in to the LG ThinQ app.
Turn On the Appliance: Make sure your LG washer dryer is plugged in and powered on.
Check Wi-Fi: Ensure your home Wi-Fi network is a 2.4 GHz band. Most LG appliances do not support 5 GHz networks.

* Open the App: On the app's home screen, tap the "+" sign (or "Add Product").
* Select Your Product: Choose the option for Washer or Washer/Dryer from the list of appliance types.
* Scan QR Code (Optional/Recommended): If your appliance has a QR code (often inside the door or on the back), the app may prompt you to scan it for easier setup. If not, select the option to add manually.
3. Put the Appliance in Setup Mode
Follow App Instructions: The app will guide you on how to activate the Wi-Fi setup mode on your appliance.
Press and Hold Wi-Fi Button: Typically, you need to press and hold the Wi-Fi setup button on the washer dryer's control panel for about 3 seconds until the Wi-Fi LED light starts to blink. This indicates it's ready to connect.
Connect Phone to Appliance (Temporary Connection)
App Prompts: The ThinQ app will instruct you to go to your phone's Wi-Fi settings.
* Select Appliance Network: In your phone's Wi-Fi settings, look for a network name starting with "LG Smart" followed by letters and numbers (e.g., LG_Smart_Washer...). Select this network.
Enter Password (if prompted): The temporary password is often the last four digits/letters of the network name typed twice (e.g., if the network ends in 1234, the password is 12341234).
Connect Appliance to Home Wi-Fi
* Return to ThinQ App: Go back to the LG ThinQ app.
Select Home Network: The app will display a list of available Wi-Fi networks. Select your home Wi-Fi network.
* Enter Home Wi-Fi Password: Enter the password for your home Wi-Fi network.
* Finalize: The app will attempt to connect the washer dryer to your home Wi-Fi. The Wi-Fi icon on the appliance should become solid when the connection is successful.
* Registration Complete: Tap "OK" or "Go to Home" in the app, and you should see your newly added washer dryer listed.
Troubleshooting Tips:
* 2.4 GHz Only: Ensure your router is configured to use the 2.4 GHz frequency band for the appliance.
* Router Distance: Try to keep the appliance relatively close to your Wi-Fi router, especially during setup.
* Power Cycle: If you have trouble, try unplugging the washer dryer for 30 seconds and/or rebooting your Wi-Fi router, then try the setup again.
* Update App: Make sure you have the latest version of the LG ThinQ app.
* Refer to Manual: Always check your appliance's user manual for model-specific instructions, as the location of the Wi-Fi button or exact setup steps may vary.
